Facing History The only statement I can offer for this exhibit is framed within this moment of time where I am actively parsing out and reflecting upon these ideas: When the premise is untrue, How does one continue to perpetuate it? And, What ultimately happens to the ones who desperately need to believe the premise? And , Then What?
Moment: Intimacy and touch
Christy: Focused Elegance
WAX: THE MATERIAL THAT BINDS US TOGETHER: THS BODY OF WORK RELATES TO THE FASCINATION OF THE WORLD WE SEE AND THE WORLD WE DO NOT. Genetic mutation happens as species evolve . It occurs when pollution and chemicals alter the cellular structures of bodies and grows to create cancer. Currently these changes are being manipulated rapidly as we alter the DNA structures of various animals and plants. We are learning to mix species with some success and it seems to be beneficial in medical research. Can we re-animate the brain of alzheimer's disease and stroke patients? What if we could manipulate the DNA structure of the human species to create a new species that thrives on carbon dioxide...Could the new species inhabit Mars?
